END OF YEAR SHOWS
Untitled: The Definition of Submission (2017)
A homeless woman is arrested for “disturbing the peace” in a city neighborhood. This unexpectedly holds the potential of changing the life of the two police officers that take her in. This is a story of opportunities; of not judging by appearance, but reaching out to help others even when the world has turned it's back against you. A story of finding hope in the most unexpected places. It is a story about knowing that you are never truly alone.
Redemption, being redeemed, rescued, saved….But what do we need saving from?
Well, meet Nathan - a young man with big aspirations but no formal plans for success. He leaves the comfort of a promised managerial position in his father's business to pursue a more exciting life in London. With his parent's savings (intended for Nathan’s pending university fees) under his belt and a few work-related connections, things seem to be going well for Nathan and he enjoys what appears to be a comfortable life... but as the savings begin to depreciate under his reckless spending, life takes an unexpected turn and Nathan finds himself indebted to one of the most dangerous men in London's inner-city area.
So what does he need saving from? A debt that he cannot pay...and inevitably, death. Who will save him?
Inspired by the parable of “The Prodigal Son”, Nathan’s story is brought to life through music, drama, poetry and dance.
I Am (2013)
The story follows two individuals journey towards recovery after a life changing event that leaves them with many unanswered questions. After finding themselves in therapy; feelings of anger, resentment, guilt and insecurity are explored as these two individuals try to find themselves and rebuild their lives.
Lost & Found: The Journey (2012)
"After an event that changes everything, three students embark on a journey of discovery. As the days of trouble approach and the clouds darken, they lose their way in their search for purpose. Can they find the Truth that saves them?"
Love & Life (2011)
An awe inspiring musical which explores Love and its intriguing manifestations in Life. This delicate relationship is brought to life in the journey of a group of friends who each discover Love in their own particular way. But will the roads they traverse take them where they expect?"
"This musical by VOCE again, was one that I felt remained relevant and struck to the core of who God is. It communicated the reality of the relationship between God and man, and how God communicates himself through us.
I particularly enjoyed the “musical” element; the effective mix of drama and song, the choice of songs, and the way in which they chose to portray God with us –Immanuel; something that we all, even as Christians, tend to forget. That He really is very close to all of us.
Overall I felt the show was a success, the only bad thing about it, for me, was that this year, I wasn’t able to be a part of it, but watching it, was just as good."
Come As You Are (2010)
"Come as you are was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! It was the first time VOCE attempted to combine poetry, song, dance and drama in the form of a musical to carry across the one message. I think we achieved our goal of delivering the message and entertaining the audience. We had some amazing feedback from the audience and would do it again tomorrow if I had the chance!!"
